After spending a decade living in LA as hairstylist to the likes of Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande, Chris Appleton has returned to the UK, moving into a restored 1760s Georgian manor in the Cotswolds. He’ll be celebrating his return to these shores with a bang this autumn, appearing on the new season of Strictly Come Dancing.
Although much of the interiors are furnished with high-end pieces, chosen by interior designer Kasandra Rafter, of Canyon Creative Studio, there are a couple of objects that might have caught the eye of any bargain hunters browsing the photos of Appleton’s Architectural Digest home tour.
While the living spaces boast custom sofas and vintage armchairs, sourced from Soho Home and antiques shops in nearby Tetbury, the pantry reveals a budget-friendly touch.
The space features floor-to-ceiling shelves of clip-top glass storage jars of different sizes, each containing pulses and grains. The lower shelves are home to a series of woven wicker baskets, which hold apples and other fruits.
These elegant additions come not from a top New York designer or a vintage dealership – instead, they’re available on the high street, purchased from John Lewis.
The surfaces are high-end, a veined marble, Calacatta Gold, which is also used for the counter and backsplash in the kitchen.
The rest of the house was designed with a neutral palette to complement the property’s historic stone façade, relying on texture to bring interest in an otherwise restrained palette.
