Inside chef Thomas Straker’s London home – and the kitchen behind his viral butter videos
If you’ve spent any time scrolling through food videos, chances are you’ll have come across Thomas Straker and his viral All Things Butter series.
The chef has built a huge following with his enthusiastic butter videos, which, at just 15 seconds long, are oddly mesmerising to watch – whatever your dietary preferences.
A chef for 18 years, Thomas has turned his online success into a growing food business, with All Things Butter now joined by All Things Cottage Cheese.
He also runs Notting Hill restaurant Straker’s and has recently expanded into the US with Straker’s NYC.
Now, in a home tour with interiors brand Westwing, Thomas shows us around his London family home, including the kitchen where the idea for All Things Butter began…

'Our home is open, with a free-flowing feel. I suppose it is a sanctuary of sorts for me,' Thomas says. 'When I'm at home I try to switch off, read a book or lie down with the dogs.'

On his must-haves in the kitchen, Thomas says: 'If I could only have five things in the kitchen, then I'll have olive oil, salt, a chopping board, a couple of good knives, and that's basically it. Oh and some butter.'

Since opening his second restaurant, Straker NYC, Thomas spends around half his time in New York. When he’s back in London, it’s all about family life, spending time at home with his three children and two dogs.

On his philosophy for life, Thomas muses: 'Be happy, be healthy, explore, be curious, have fun, eat well, drink well, sleep well.'
