Stacey Solomon recently handed over the keys to her much-loved Pickle Cottage, and moved her family into a – seemingly much bigger – home. But, like Pickle Cottage, the so-called new ‘Pickle Project’ is just that: a project. Despite its vast floorplan and stunning period features, it’s safe to say the mansion needs a bit of TLC and updating.
But as a serial upcycler and the host of BBC One’s Sort Your Life Out, this should be no problem.
Stacey has been revealing her family’s new home room by room, beginning with the master bedroom, which connects to a surprising ensuite bathroom – complete with hand-painted tiles featuring figures from Greek mythology, an enormous bath and a full-size sauna.
Most recently, Stacey revealed the details of the new home’s dining room, the aesthetics of which she compares to those of the Netflix series Bridgerton. ‘I’ve been dreaming of dressing up this room the moment we bought pickle project. It’s the room of my dreams,’ Stacey wrote on Instagram. ‘I’ve never had a sinning [dining] (sic) room, it’s SO special in here! Me and Joe call it the Bridgeton (sic) Room it’s so posh. The only question for in here is Dining room or Playroom?’
Before Stacey and her husband, Joe Swash, decide on the long-term future of the room, they celebrated Stacey’s birthday and their five-year-old daughter Rose’s birthday, with Bridgerton-style decorations to boot.
The room features elaborate cornicing, textured wallpaper on both ceilings and walls, an ornate fireplace, wood panel flooring and enormous double doors opening up to the rest of the house.
The windows are framed by heavy curtains, with a fitted pelmet, a feature of many formal Victorian rooms designed to conceal curtain rods, tracks and fixtures.
Stacey has decorated the space with pink florals and lace details, leaning into the Bridgerton aesthetic the room evokes.
How big is Stacey Solomon’s new house?
The Victorian mansion is said to feature eight bedrooms, six reception rooms, a swimming pool, lake and 30 acres of land.
