BBC presenter, drummer and serial renovator: Who is Owain Wyn Evans?

From early morning radio to art deco interiors, get to know broadcaster, drummer and serial home renovator Owain Wyn Evans

Self-confessed “serial home renovator” Owain Wyn Evans is a familiar face on our screens and airwaves – best known as the presenter of BBC Radio 2’s early breakfast show and as a judge and host on Wales’s Home of the Year.

Bringing serious design expertise to his own projects, Owain recently transformed a four-bedroom Victorian end-of-terrace house in Wales alongside his husband, Arran Rees – marking his fifth major property renovation. Here is everything you need to know about the Welsh broadcaster, his career and his vibrant creative life.

Who is Owain Wyn Evans?

Owain Wyn Evans is a TV presenter, best known as the presenter of BBC Radio 2’s early breakfast show. He also regularly presents items on The One Show.

Evans was previously a weather presenter, hosting weather bulletins on various BBC programmes, but became wider known during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, when he shared a video of himself drumming the BBC News theme immediately after presenting a weather forecast. The video went viral and led to further broadcasting opportunities for the Welsh presenter.

Where does he live?

He lives in Penarth, in the Vale of Glamorgan, with his husband, Arran Rees. We visited Owain Wyn Evans’s home for a house tour, admiring his maximalist but calm and relaxed colour palette, with rooms punctuated with mid-century furniture.
