In her first upcycle project in her new mansion, Stacey Solomon has breathed new life into the home’s tired old orange bath suite. In what was something of a controversial move among her followers, Stacey has decided to not bin the retro colourful suite – and instead, has cleaned it up and redesigned the room so it lets the retro pieces shine.
“99 per cent of people told me it had gotta go,” she laughed in a recent video, showing her cleaning up the old sink, toilet and bath. After scrubbing down the units, she admitted that removing the stains was far easier than expected. When she revealed the newly clean suite, the colour of the orange-yellow units was much more vibrant, ready to be put back in situ in her sons’ upstairs bathroom.
So far, we've been retreated to room-by-room reveals of Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash's new mansion on Instagram, with surprising ensuite hand-painted tiles, a dramatic staircase and a Bridgerton-style dining room.
The brightly coloured bath, loo and sink are now set against striped walls, painted in orange and white to match the suite. New fittings have been added throughout, with a brushed gold shower head and fittings matched with new taps, mounted toilet roll holder, flush handle and towel ring. The shower area now boasts fresh tiling and a sleek screen, complete with a statement band of orange tiles that ties the whole look together.
Stacey has also replaced the flooring with stone-effect floor tiles and added some other key features to add personality to the bathroom. An asymmetrical bathroom mirror has been installed above the sink, with three lighting modes for additional illumination, and a black and white soap dispenser added to the sink.
One of the surprising challenges of bathroom redesigns is finding a suitably chic toilet brush to match your newly minted interiors. Fortunately, Stacey’s managed to find one that absolutely meets the brief. The toilet brush and holder is a B&Q special – a high-quality stainless steel matt-finish mustard toilet brush, on sale currently for £49.90 from the British DIY giant.

Another feature of Stacey’s new bathroom redesign is the humorous “Get Naked” bath mat, which is available on Amazon for £28.

It’s not all accessible bargains, however, as Stacey has added some higher-value items to finish off her bathroom. Fragrance lovers will spot the Diptyque candle on the sink in the classic “Figuier” (Fig Tree) scent – available for £63 – and resting on the loo, the Acqua di Parma home fragrance diffuser (possibly in the “Luce Di Colonia” scent), which retails for nearly £100.
It’s a remarkable transformation. Stacey showed a “before” picture of the bathroom, with dark floor tiles and a mix of brown tiles and tired white paint on the walls. If this bathroom renovation is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat with the rest of the house.
